International Smile Week Celebrated in Sodo with Grace Hospital
Grace Hospital and Trust Charity Association jointly marked International Smile Week in Sodo, The event also featured specialized training by Smile Train to strengthen local capacity.
International Smile Week was celebrated in Sodo town of Wolaita with a major community-focused program organized jointly by Grace Hospital and the Trust Charity Association. The event brought together a wide range of national and regional health leaders, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Southern Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau, and the Head of the Wolaita Zone Health Department. A representative from the international charity organization Smile Train also participated, alongside local partners and various stakeholders committed to improving child health and cleft care services.
The program highlighted the importance of early intervention, surgical support, and community awareness for children born with cleft lip and palate. As part of the initiative, Smile Train provided training sessions for all attending stakeholders, focusing on best practices in cleft care, early diagnosis, referral systems, and improving access to safe surgical services.
Grace Hospital emphasized its ongoing commitment to expanding pediatric and surgical services for the Wolaita community. Through collaborations with organizations like Smile Train, the hospital aims to strengthen local expertise and deliver more effective, compassionate care to children in need.
International Smile Week in Sodo concluded with a shared vision: expanding awareness, enhancing skills, and ensuring that every child has the chance to smile confidently and live a healthy life.
